Down into the Darkness

Since I was a kid I have loved Tall Ships, i.e. the square-sailed monsters that plied the ocean for so long.  It is not hard for me to know the sail plan, or the structure or shape of these ships so when presented with an ideal day to paint and draw I drew this.

The Colossal Squid was long unobserved and until recently no one really had a good specimen when in 2007 a fisherman pulled in a 33 foot long one weighing 990 lbs.  Recent video of a Giant Squid showed one 40 feet in length.
